Mumbai: Security agencies have been successful in recovering five bodies so far out of the sixteen who were feared to have drowned on Sunday.

Four bodies out of the fourteen who drowned off Aksa beach in the western suburbs and one body out of the two who drowned off Gateway of India in south Mumbai are so far recovered.

Meanwhile, at least 28 people have lost their lives in this island city and other parts of the state as heavy rains lashed Maharashtra since last three days disrupting the road and rail traffic.

The weather bureau has forecast light to moderate showers for the next 24 hours in the coastal belt of the state.
