Papers seized from person injured in blast

July 12, 2000 02:10 Hrs (IST)

Vijayawada: The city police traced the house of Ibrahim who was seriously injured in a Maruti van explosion on Sunday last in Bangalore and seized several documents, pamphlets and religious literature, police said here on Tuesday night.

A press statement by the city police commissioner said, following the information about the van explosion and the identification of the inmates - out of which two succumbed to injuries and Ibrahim was hurt - it was reliably learnt that Ibrahim was a native of Wynchipet here.

He said several teams were formed to trace the house of Ibrahim and to examine his links with the blasts which are taking place in places of worship.

The teams traced the residential premises of Ibrahim at Wynchipet and conducted a thorough search of the place. Several documents, pamphlets and religious literature were seized and they are under scrutiny, he said.

On Sunday, an explosion ripped through the Maruti van as it sped, barely 30 minutes after a blast in a church in Bangalore. A thorough probe has been on to establish the links of Ibrahim with the bomb blasts which have taken place recently in places of worship, the commissioner added.
