Woman killed in fresh Rajasthan riots

July 12, 2000, 20:00 Hrs (IST)

Jaipur: A woman was killed as fresh violence erupted on Wednesday at village Todi Sagar about 10 km from the curfew-bound Malpura township in Tonk district of Rajasthan.

The death toll now is 11, in a chain of violent incidents that began on Monday between two communities at the township.

Principal Home Secretary R K Naiyar said that the woman's three children were injured when her house was attacked by a group.

The group went to the village and tried to get the shops closed, and barged into houses and destroyed people's belongings.

State director general of police Amitabh Gupta has left for Malpura.
