Calcutta: Eight top officials from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and
Central Electricity Authority (CEA) were among the victims of the Alliance Air plane
that crashed near Patna airport on Monday.
While Additional General Manager (Civil) P.M. Bopanna is battling for life in a
Patna hospital, there was no information about NTPC's General Manager (Engineering)
B.B. Saha who was on board the flight, NTPC sources said.
The joint team, which arrived here from Delhi by Jet Airways on Sunday, missed the
train for Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station and booked tickets for Monday
morning's Alliance Air flight for Patna, the sources said.
However, there was no information about the six CEA members who also boarded the
same flight from here.
The team was scheduled to visit the Kahalgaon STPS and also for a techno-economic
clearance proposal to a power project at Barh, the sources said, adding that anxious
relatives were making queries from Delhi for both Saha and Bopanna.
Usha Martin Senior Executive Major Sharad Gupta and Reliance Telecom Executive
Michael Gupta were also traveling by the flight, respective company sources said.
