Puri Peeth claimant seer arrested

Puri (Orissa): Swami Adhokshajananda, the claimant for the seat of the Sankaracharaya of Puri Goverdhan Peeth, was on Monday arrested by the city police for obstructing government officials from serving court order.

The city police had to break open the main gate of the house to arrest him along with seven others under section 173,188, 186 and 204 of the CrPC after he tore the court order served on him restricting his movement in the holy city.

Swami Adhokshajananda who arrived here on July 15 last to observe ''Shrabana Brata'' for two months had threatened to move court against Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, the present Sankaracharaya of Puri, for occupying the seat illegally.
