Aug 27, 2000 23:30 Hrs (IST)

Nagpur: Union Home Minister L K Advani on Sunday said India would emerge victorious in the proxy war launched by Pakistan.

India was fighting the fifth war, a proxy war, against Pakistan in the last 20 years, he said addressing a public meeting on the sidelines of ongoing national council session of the BJP.

India had won all the previous wars in 1948, 1965, 1971 and in Kargil operation in 1999, Advani added.

Launching a scathing attack on Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, he blamed it for disturbing communal harmony.

Advani said “deendar-anjuman” outfit was found to be induldging in terrorist activities in the country by carrying out bomb blasts in churches in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa.

Earlier saffron outfits were accused of attacking the churches which has proved wrong, the minister said.

During the last few months, 15 religious places and prayer hall of Christian were made targets by the ISI, he said.

Touching upon the election of Bangaru Laxman, first dalit to head the party, Advani said with his elevation to the top post, BJP has broken the myth that party was a north Indian one, belonging to upper castes and run by old aged persons.

BJP has a built a second line of leadership too, he added.
