Aug 27, 2000 23:00 Hrs (IST)

Coimbatore: Ashes of former power minister Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, who died on August 23, were immersed in the confluence of Bhavani-Cauvery-Noyyal rivers in Erode district on Sunday.

The urn containing the ashes was kept at the ancestral home of the departed BJP leader in Kumaramangalam for people to pay homage. Later it was brought to Bhavani, the confluence of the rivers, by his wife Kitty, son Mohan and daughter Ruchira, police said.

Tamil Nadu handloom minister N K K Periyasamy and former state BJP president K N Lakshmanan were among those paid homage at the bank of the river, they said.
