New Delhi: The new National Conference president, Omar Abdullah, proposes to go to
Jammu and Kashmir but for the time being he will continue to retain his portfolio of
Minister of State for External Affairs, highly-placed sources said on July 1 night.
"Abdullah has not resigned and he will continue in the Vajpayee government," the
sources said.
They, however, said that Abdullah proposed to go to Jammu and Kashmir where Assembly
elections are due in October and contribute there.
Yashwant Sinha, who swaps positions with Jaswant Singh, takes charge of External
Affairs Ministry with two deputies, Abdullah and Digvijay Singh.
