40 killed in US bombing in Afghanistan: Official

Kabul: US bombing killed 40 people at a wedding party in Southern Afghanistan late June 30 night, a local official told AFP on July 1, as the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported over 100 deaths.

"According to our reports 40 people have been killed and another 60 to 70 people wounded," in Dehrawad district of Uruzgan province, an official in Zgan told AFP by satellite telephone.

Uruzgan is North of the main Southern province of Kandahar.

AIP, citing "informed sources", said more than 100 people including women and children were killed in the overnight raid.
