4 killed in Assam encounters, arms recovered

Guwahati: Four people, including three militants and a dacoit, were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Assam since July 1 night, police said on July 2.

A NDFB ultra was killed in an encounter with the Army when troops of 18 Sikh regiment raided Gumoripar village in Kamrup district.

A revolver and two grenades were recovered from the slain militant, the police said.

In a separate incident in the same district, another NDFB militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Doisapara village on July 2 morning.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of red horns division operating in Goalpara district killed a militant on July 1 night in Nishargram village following a raid and a brief encounter.

Two Chinese grenades, nine detonators and several documents were recovered from the slain militant.

Meanwhile, a dacoit was killed by the police following a shoot-out at Terekuchi village under Rangiya sub-division of Kamrup district on July 2.
