Paswan demands immediate ban on RSS, VHP
Friday, July 5 2002 18:32 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Launching a frontal attack on the Sangh Pariwar for allegedly trying to divide the country on religion, Lok Janshakti Party national president, Ramvilas Paswan on July 5 demanded ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal.

"The three outfits are bent on dividing the country on the basis of religion. They should be immediately banned," Paswan said.

Paswan said the RSS resolution seeking to trifurcate Jammu and Kashmir carried ominous portents for the country. "The Sangh Pariwar is making sinister bid to break the nation," he told reporters.

Referring to recent statement of Vajpayee indicating to conduct the Assembly poll in Jammu and Kashmir under President's rule, Paswan said it is just absurd.

Why doesn't Delhi impose Central rule in riot-hit Gujarat and hold the elections, Paswan queried.

On the ongoing tug-of-war between Trinamool Congress' Mamta Banerjee and Samata leader Nitish Kumar over the Railway portfolio and the decision to bifurcate the Eastern Railway creating a new East Central Railway zone in Hajipur, Paswan said the two leaders are engaged in political drama to befool the people.
