Officials go in search for tapes of MDMK speeches
Friday, July 5 2002 12:17 Hrs (IST)

Madurai: Intelligence officials are taking steps to collect the audio and video cassettes of the speeches made by the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader Vaiko and his party colleagues during the past one year at various places, police said.

Vaiko had reportedly made pro-Liberattion Tigers of Tami Elam (LTTE) speeches not only in public meetings, but also in meetings organised by various Tamil fora, literary societies and pro-LTTE organisations in the past one-year, a top police official said.

The MDMK general council meeting held at Erode recently had passed resolutions supporting LTTE and their demands.

Meanwhile, police had been asked to keep strict vigil at important localities following reports that untoward incidents could take place in case Vaiko and his supporters were arrested, the official said.
