Srinagar: Three persons, including a militant were killed and two injured in
separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where police arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen
militant and recovered 10 kg of RDX from a hideout since July 6 night, a police
spokesman said.
The Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Zakir Hussain Sheikh alias ''danish'' was
apprehended by Special Operations Group (SOG) of local police from Pulwama bus stand
in south Kashmir. Besides Rs 2.50 lakhs, an AK assault rifle, two magazines and 30
rounds were recovered from him, the spokesman said.
Zakir, a resident of Maldeer village of Shopian, was being questioned for his
involvement in militancy and finance of the outfit as the money seized from him
indicated his role in the Hizbul's finance wing, the spokesman said.
The militant apparently got the money from Srinagar to be distributed among the
outfit militants in South Kashmir. He was arrested at Pulwama bus stand when he
alighted from the bus coming from Srinagar, the spokesman said.
He said an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in
the forest closure of Soker Tarminar near Darhal in border district of Rajouri in
Jammu on July 6 night.
In another encounter, SOG personnel confronted a group of militants at Nasika Chinta
area of Bhaderwah in Doda district on July 6 night. However, the militants escaped
after exchange of fire with the police party leaving
behind 10 kg of RDX and fake currency worth Rs 1 lakh was
recovered from their hideout.
