Mumbai: A day after performing the last rites of their father Dhirubhai Ambani, who
single-handedly built a Rs 65,000 crore conglomerate, his two sons, Mukesh and Anil,
were on July 8 back at work at their respective offices.
Mukesh, who is the vice chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd
(RIL) as well as chairman of the recently acquired IPCL Ltd, attended office at
Ballard Pier, which also houses the offices of Reliance Infocom, while Anil, who is
RIL managing director, did so at the Maker Chambers at Nariman Point, both offices
in South Mumbai.
"It is office as usual. They not only attended to their paper work but also had
business meetings," company sources said.
Many analysts and stock brokers feel that the death of Ambani would have no impact
on the markets or the group.
Except for the first two days after his hospitalisation on June 24 when the scrip
fell, on the rest of the days it moved with the market sentiment, they observed.
"'Work is worship'. This is the mantra given by our founder chairman, Dhirubhai
Ambani" was the message sent out to all the RIL employees today," sources said.
"There will be therefore no interruption in work in any of the Reliance
establishments and offices. This is the sincere tribute to the great man who
continues to be a source of inspiration for all of us individually and
collectively," it added.
