Chennai: MDMK presidium Chairman L Ganesan, former Member of Parliament (MP), was arrested near Ariyalur when he was coming to Chennai from Thanjavur, party sources said on July 10 night.

They also alleged that a large number of MDMK supporters were being arrested elsewhere in the state.

The arrested included, A Malarmannan, former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), the sources said.

Ganesan was coming to Chennai to receive the party General Secretary Vaiko, MP, who is returning to Chennai on July 11 from Chicago, the sources said.
