Islamabad: Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf announced that legislative elections would be held on October 10, the state television reported on July 10.

The elections would be for the Lower House of Parliament or National Assembly as well as the four provincial legislatures, according to Pakistan Television.

Musharraf was bound by a Supreme Court order to hold elections by October 2002.
