Islamabad: An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted South Western
Pakistan on July 14 morning, but no casualties or damage to property were reported,
Seismological Department officials said.
The earthquake was recorded at 02:06 hours (01:36 IST), department official Tahir
Shehzad said.
Its epicentre was located some 300 kilometres South West of Islamabad, near the
border between Punjab and Baluchistan provinces.
Shehzad said tremors were felt at Dera Ghazi Khan, Loralai and Kingri districts in
the South West of the country, but "there was no immediate report of any
losses".
Residents in the area said the quake triggered landslides which caused some roads to
be blocked.
District administration official Ikranmullah Khan said the area was located in the
Salaman mountain range, making it vulnerable to landslides.
"We have reports of roadblocks at some places, but we have not yet received any
information about house collapses or casualties."
"We have sent teams to the remote mountain region and are waiting their reports," he
said.
