4 ISI agents arrested in UP, more arrests likely
Monday, July 15 2002 16:58 Hrs (IST)

Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh): Two days after the arrest of an National Cadet Corps (NCC) clerk for allegedly possessing sensitive information, police and Intelligence Bureau sleuths on July 15 nabbed four Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agents, including a woman, in Muzaffarnagar district.

Gayur, Shakila, Jan Mohammad and Ghaffar were arrested from Sherpur and Jat Mujhera villages for allegedly sending sensitive military information to their masters in Pakistan, ASP Nail Kumar Jain said.

Jain said the arrests were made on the basis of information provided by Moinuddin, an accounts clerk, who was arrested at Mathura on July 13.

He said that the arrested agents had revealed vital information about the ISI network in Western Uttar Pradesh and some more arrests were likely soon.

A fax machine, a diary, a fax account register and some other documents have been recovered from their possession, Jain added.
