Kalam wants kids to view swearing in ceremony
Monday, July 15 2002 22:31 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: A P J Abdul Kalam, who is certain to become the next President, has an unusual request, he wants school children to be present in the central hall of Parliament House during his swearing-in ceremony on July 25.

Though Kalam wanted around 1000 children to be present, the government has managed to convince him that a 100 could be accommodated in the hall for the ceremony likely to be held at 12:30 hours (IST), Parliament sources said.

The "missile man" has also apparently been persuaded to wear a "Jodhpuri" for the ceremony. However, it is not known whether he will change his much talked about hair style.
