New Delhi: Viewing the massacre of Hindus in Jammu as part of a Pakistani gameplan
to force migration of the community from the region, a frontline organisation of
Kashmiri Pandits on July 15 said the incident highlighted the need for "geo-
political reorganisation" of the state.
Panun Kashmir said the Centre and the state government could not be absolved of
their responsibilities to protect minority Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir and demanded
a "strong and effective" military operation to weed out terrorism there.
"The selective killing is clearly designed to scare the Hindus in Jammu to force
their migration from the region as had been done in Kashmir valley 12 years ago
under the larger gameplan of Islamisation," Panun Kashmir general secretary Ramesh
Manvati said here condemning the incident.
He said such attacks could not ruled out in Ladakh region also.
"Such incidents highlight the need for geo-political reorganisation of the state to
create a separate state of Jammu, Union Territory of Ladakh and Union Territory for
Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir Valley," he said.
Stating that while Pakistan's role in "encouraging such incidents is beyond doubt",
Manvati said the Central and the state governments also had responsibility to ensure
protection of its citizens, particularly minorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said in view of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, security measures should be
intensified.
