Polling for Presidential election ends in Delhi

New Delhi: Polling for the 12th Presidential election ended in Parliament House and state Assemblies on July 15.

Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, his Cabinet colleagues and leader of the Opposition Sonia Gandhi cast their votes during the day-long polling in Parliament House.

The ballot box in Parliament House was sealed at 17:00 hours (IST) at the end of the voting in the presence of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pramod Mahajan.

A total of 776 MPs and 4,120 MLAs comprise the electoral college for the Presidential poll.

Counting of votes will take place on July 18 and the result will be announced the same day.
