Monday, July 15 2002 10:21 Hrs (IST)

Chennai: The case against Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader and MP Vaiko and eight other party functionaries under Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) has been transferred to specialised "Q" branch of Tamil Nadu police, police sources said on July 14 night.

The Tirumangalam police had registered cases against them under various sections of POTA, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly speaking in favour of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) outfit at Tirumangalam near Madurai on June 29.

The "Q" branch deals with all cases pertaining to LTTE.
