Chennai: The case against Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader and
MP Vaiko and eight other party functionaries under Prevention of Terrorism Act
(POTA) has been transferred to specialised "Q" branch of Tamil Nadu police, police
sources said on July 14 night.
The Tirumangalam police had registered cases against them under various sections of
POTA, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly
speaking in favour of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) outfit at
Tirumangalam near Madurai on June 29.
The "Q" branch deals with all cases pertaining to LTTE.
