LS admits Opposition motion on J&K massacre
Tuesday, July 16 2002 12:27 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: An Opposition-sponsored adjournment motion to discuss the July 13 Qasim Nagar terrorist massacre near Jammu and failure of the government to combat cross- border terrorism was admitted on July 16 in Lok Sabha by Speaker Manohar Joshi.

The motion was moved by Congress deputy leader Shivraj Patil after the Speaker announced that he had received 65 notices from members of various Opposition parties.

Joshi observed that in the balloting, V M Sudhiran (Congress) had secured the first place. But the member requested the chair to allow Patil to move the motion and initiate a discussion, a plea accepted by the Speaker.
