New York: Seven Indians travelling by a domestic flight were questioned by US law
enforcement agencies after a passenger reported that they were indulging
in "suspicious activity".
Officials said the passenger told a flight attendant of American Trans Air Flight
204 shortly before it was to land at LaGuardia Airport from Chicago on July 16 night
that the Indians were indulging in "suspicious activity" exchanging notes and
changing their seats.
The attendant in turn informed the pilot and two F-16 fighter jets escorted the
plane with 98 passengers to the LaGuardia Airport where the Indians were questioned
and later released, they said.
Appearing on WNBC TV, Chiru Vijanam, their host in New York, said the Indians were
from a performance group and may have been rehearsing or discussing their role
attracting suspicion.
