Tens of thousands of fortune hunters have started a diamond rush in Southern India for rough gems lying on the bed of a dried-out lake, residents say. Around 30,000 people have rushed to the Paritala Lake in Andhra Pradesh this week hoping to snap up diamonds apparently washed away from a nearby abandoned gem field, according to officials.
