Kathmandu: A total of 100 people were killed and 49 missing in floods and landslides
caused by heavy rains in Nepal in last three days, the Home Ministry said on July
24.
Khotan district in the Eastern Nepal with 43 deaths is the worst hit district, while
Kathmandu with the death toll of 26 stands second, it said.
Eleven people were killed in Makawanpur district while four each died in Bhaktapur
and Myagdi districts, the ministry said.
It said three people each were killed in Syangja and Dhading districts, two each
died in Chitawan and Lalitpur district and one each lost their lives in Kavre and
Siraha districts.
The ministry said 49 people have been missing, adding floods and landslides have
affected 972 families in 19 districts.
Nepalese Army, police force and various social organisations are involved in relief
works in the affected areas. The Nepalese Army today rescued 208 people trapped in
floods by using helicopter.
