New Delhi: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on July 25 night called on the new President, A P J Abdul Kalam, at his residence. The meeting lasted for 35 minutes.

According to Rashtrapathi Bhavan sources, "it was a one- to-one meeting and a courtesy call".

Vice-President Krishan Kant and his wife Suman Krishan Kant also called on Kalam and were with him for 40 minutes.
