Tiruchirappalli: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on July 27 ruled out the
trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir as demanded by the Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh
(RSS) and said there was no question of granting autonomy within them country.
Party president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here that the RSS' demand 'was not
possible'. However, the government could consider devolution of financial and
administrative powers to the people of Leh, Ladhak and Jammu, respecting their
sentiments, he said.
Naidu also said that the BJP would never accept the Pattali Makkal Kattchi (PMK)'s
demand for bifurcation of Tamil Nadu.
Referring to terrorist activities in Kashmir, he said India knew how to contain
cross border terrorism. Till now, about 26,000 terrorists had been killed, he said.
He also called on countries providing assistance to Pakistan, including financial
aid, to stop doing so.
