Kiev: At least 70 people were killed and 100 injured when a Sukhoi warplane crashed
onto the crowd attending an air show in Western Ukraine, the Ukrainian Emergencies
Ministry said cited by Interfax news agency.
The accident occurred in the town of Sknyliv, near Lviv, when the low-flying jet
touched another plane on the ground, ministry official Grigori Marchenko
said.
Victims were hit by flying debris.
Marchenko earlier told Interfax news agency that the Sukhoi-27 jet clipped another
aircraft during a manoeuver and tailspinned to the ground.
He said the two pilots ejected from the plane and were alive but did not say whether
they suffered injuries.
