Rameswaram: Brown sugar worth Rs 4 crore were seized from a mechanised boat heading towards Sri Lanka and three persons were arrested in connection with this, customs officials, stationed in Mandapam, said on July 27.

Officials said that four others, who were also in the boat, managed to escape by jumping into the sea.

The boat also had been seized. Further investigation is on.
