Ranchi: Curfew was relaxed for five hours on July 27 at Doranda, Hatia and
Jagannathpur, 53 hours after it was imposed following large scale violence by pro-
domicile supporters during bandh on July 16.
People spilled on to the streets, thronging the few shops, which were open to
purchase essential commodities. Long queues were also found at petrol pumps.
In the night on July 26 the authorities announced relaxation of curfew at Hatia,
Doranda and Jagannath police station areas from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (IST) on July 27.
The authorities also decided to allow movement of government employees on production
of their identity cards.
However, there was no let up in Sukhdevnagar and Argora where curfew was clampedon
July 26.
DGP control room sources said situation in the state capital was peaceful.
