New Delhi: Deputy chairperson of Rajya Sabha Najma Heptulla will officiate as chairperson of the Upper House till the new Vice President is sworn in.

The term of Vice President Krishan Kant, who passed away on July 27, was to end on August 20.

The Vice Presidential elections are slated for August 12.
