Hyderabad: Eight naxalites of People's War Group (PWG), including two commanders and
a deputy commander, surrendered before Andhra Pradesh director general of police P
Ramulu on July 27.
The two commanders of Jana Natya Mandali (JNM), a cultural front of PWG, were
Kusanapally Saraiah alias Chitti, who carries a reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head, and
U Madanakka alias Latha, who was active in Orissa and had participated in an attack
on a police outpost in the neighbouring state.
She carried a reward of Rs 20,000 on her head.
The surrendered extremists were fed up with the PWG ideology and were yearning to
lead a normal life by joining social mainstream, the DGP told reporters.
Some of the surrendered ultras, who were active in Telangana districts of Khammam,
Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal, also cited ill-health as the reason to
come out of the naxal movement, Ramulu said.
Another prominent naxal leader to surrender today was M Satyanarayana alias
Komaranna, a deputy commander of Singapur dalam who worked as an "action team"
member in Adilabad district and was involved in the murder of District Co-operative
Bank Chairman Ramesh Reddy in Nirmal town in 1995, the DGP said.
Komaranna, who was recently shifted to PWG's Protection Platoon, was involved in
nine offences since 1994.
