Srinagar: Five Pakistani intruders were killed as Army foiled three separate
infiltration bids by Hizbul Mujahideen militants in border district of Kupwara in
North Kashmir July 28 night, a Defence spokesman said on July 29.
Three foreign mercenaries belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen were killed by the security
forces along the line of control (LoC) early on July 29, the spokesman said and
identified two of the deceased militants as Javed Warki and Rehman, both residents
of Muzzafarabad area of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the spokesman said.
In another operation, the spokesman said security forces laid an ambush near the LoC
in the same district on receiving prior information about infiltration bid by
militants.
On observing suspicious movement of three to four persons they were challenged by
the ambush party. The militants opened fire and in the retaliatory action another
Hizbul Mujahideen militant Sadam Hussain was killed, the spokesman said.
He said security forces killed an unidentified militant while trying to infiltrate
into Indian side from across the border in Kupwara on July 29. His identity and
recoveries are yet to be ascertained as the operation in the area was still
continuing, the spokesman said.
He said three AK assault rifles, a pistol, a wireless set and a large quantity of
ammunition were recovered from the killed militants.
