Srinagar: Five Pakistani intruders were killed as Army foiled three separate infiltration bids by Hizbul Mujahideen militants in border district of Kupwara in North Kashmir July 28 night, a Defence spokesman said on July 29.

Three foreign mercenaries belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen were killed by the security forces along the line of control (LoC) early on July 29, the spokesman said and identified two of the deceased militants as Javed Warki and Rehman, both residents of Muzzafarabad area of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the spokesman said.

In another operation, the spokesman said security forces laid an ambush near the LoC in the same district on receiving prior information about infiltration bid by militants.

On observing suspicious movement of three to four persons they were challenged by the ambush party. The militants opened fire and in the retaliatory action another Hizbul Mujahideen militant Sadam Hussain was killed, the spokesman said.

He said security forces killed an unidentified militant while trying to infiltrate into Indian side from across the border in Kupwara on July 29. His identity and recoveries are yet to be ascertained as the operation in the area was still continuing, the spokesman said.
