Trains affected due to West India power failure

Mumbai: The sudden power failure in Western grid on July 30 night severely affected train services in the region with a number of long-distance trains stranded near Mumbai and parts of Madhya Pradesh.

According to a Western railway spokesperson, Lok Shakti Express has been held up near Borivli while Jaipur bound superfast express is stranded near Vaitarna.

He said Saurashtra Mail was held up near Goregaon and Mumbai-Indore Mail is awaiting clearance near Virar.

The departure of Golden Temple Express has been delayed, he added.

A Central Railway official said sudden darkness in Kalyan station, near here, had affected to and fro train services in Nagpur, Pune, Bhusawal and Jabalpur.
