Siliguri: The much-awaited talks between Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh
Rifles (BDR) was all set to begin at Kadamtala, headquarters of North Bengal
Frontier of BSF on August 5, BSF officials said.
Additional deputy inspector general of the North Bengal Frontier of BSF P P Gupta
said that a seven member BDR delegation led by its deputy director general Brigadier
Rabbani would reach Siliguri from Bangladesh to attend the four-day bilateral talks
beginning August 5.
The BSF would be represented by two inspector generals of North Bengal and South
Bengal Frontiers of BSF, K S Vora and Rejinder Singh respectively, Gupta
said.
Besides formal talks on mutual co-operation in guarding the international border
between the two neighbouring countries, specific problems like infiltration, trans
border crimes and violent actions by Bangladeshis against tea plantation on Indian
side in particular, would get priorities in the talks, he added.
The talks between BSF-BDR was postponed in the last week of July.
