Monday, August 5 2002 21:26 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: Bangalore-based C M Gauri Shankar has won the under-9 British Junior Chess Championship held at Torquay, Devon, the UK, according to the British Chess Federation.

In a fax message from London on Monday, the federation said Gauri Shankar recorded 100 per cent score (seven points from seven rounds) in an outstanding performance.

As he has already won the Under-11 British championship in this series, Gauri Shankar claims a double crown in the championship of 2002 held by the federation, it said.
