Srinagar: A self-styled commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and three militants were
among five people killed in Kashmir where a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) ultra surrendered
since August 4 night, an official spokesman said on August 5.
The district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Shabir Ahmad Mala alias Abu Bakar was
killed along with his Pakistani accomplice Altaf Bhai in an encounter with Border
Security Force (BSF) at village Drabgam in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on
August 5, the spokesman said.
He said troops of 9th battalion BSF, acting on a specific information, raided the
village on August 5 morning and in the ensuing gunbattle the two militants were
killed.
The spokesman said security forces shot dead two more militants in an encounter at
Keran sector of Kupwara district on August 4 night. An AK rifle and some ammunition
were recovered from them.
