Gandhinagar: Security agencies have laid bare a conspiracy to create disturbances in Gujarat on Independence Day with arrest of a Lashkar-e-Toiba activist in Kutch district on August 4, police sources said.

Mohammed Maqbool, the LeT activist, was carrying an identity card, which identified him as "Bashir", a resident of Delhi, sources said.

Hailing from Punjab province in Pakistan, Maqbool had entered the country via Jammu and has confessed of a plan to create disturbances in Gujarat on the Independence Day, sources said.

The LeT activist said he was one of the members of the eight-member group which had come to Kutch district and that all others, who were carrying RDX and hand grenades, have crossed back to Pakistan, sources added.
