Monsoon revives, heavy rain expected in 48 hours

Pune: Drought affected areas of different states in the country might get a respite with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on August 5 forecasting heavy rainfall in various states during the next 48 hours.

According to IMD, heavy rain is likely to occur in Maharashtra and Goa, Assam and Meghalaya, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.

South-West monsoon has been active in Konkan and Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, the IMD said.

Heavy rain is also expected in Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Lakshadweep, it added.
