Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati late on August 30 night shifted her secretary incharge of sports, Kashmira Singh, after suspending the principal secretary (sports) earlier in the day for issuing a government order providing reservation in sports colleges and hostels without consulting her.

Though no official announcement was made in this regard, sources said home secretary J N Chamber had replaced Singh.

Singh reportedly did not inform the Chief Minister about the provisions in the government order, the sources said.

Mayawati had on August 30 suspended principal secretary (sports) Harish Chandra for issuing the controversial government order without her approval.

The order, which provided reservations for schedule castes (SCs), schedule tribes (STs) and other backward classes (OBCs), in sports colleges and hostels was later scrapped by the Chief Minister.
