New Delhi: The body of Delhi Congress corporator Atma Ram Gupta, who was killed last
week, was recovered past midnight in Bulandshahar, police said on August 31.
The body, which was recovered from Jainpur village in Bulandshahr, was brought to
Delhi on August 31 morning, deputy commissioner of police (North West) Sanjay Singh
said.
The body was recovered after villagers noticed it and reported it to police, Singh
said.
Gupta, who had gone missing on August 24, had been shot dead in Daulana area of
Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh on the same day by some hired killers allegedly
at the behest of fellow corporator Sharda Jain.
Sharda, who with her brother Raj Kumar was arrested two days later, had allegedly
confessed to have masterminded his murder.
Sharda allegedly had an affair with the 51-year-old Gupta and got him killed after
finding him to be inclined towards another Congress corporator Memwati
Barwala.
The 31-year-old Sharda and her brother allegedly hired one Roshan Singh for Rs
60,000, who performed the job with the help of two more persons.
