Srinagar: Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit and two Armymen were among nine killed and four injured as ultras triggered a blast outside a police camp in Jammu and Kashmir since August 31 night, an official spokesman said on September 1.

Militants killed two children in Surankote area of Poonch district on September 1, the spokesman said.

He said that ultras intruded in the house of one Mohammad Qayoom, a peon in the office of deputy commissioner, in village Gunthal and fired indiscriminately killing 10-year-old Rukhsar Ahmad and Zaheen Akhter (10) and injuring his another daughter Ruksana, the spokesman said.

Two militants of JeM outfit including, a foreign mercenary were killed in an encounter with the Border Security Force (BSF) troops near Shopian in Pulwama district on September 1, he said.

A search party of ninth battalion of BSF came under fire from militants hiding Chilipora village early on September 1 and in the ensuing encounter the two militants were killed, he said.

The search party had gone to the village following specific information about the presence of ultras there, the spokesman said.

Two AK assault rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, he said.

Another JeM militant, was killed in a gunfight with Army at Walkul-Lalpora in border district of Kupwara in North Kashmir on August 31 night, the spokesman said, adding that a security jawan was killed and another was injured in the encounter.

An Army jawan was killed and two injured when militants attacked a search party at Naidgam near Chatroo in Doda district on August 31 night, the spokesman said.

He said that a special police officer (SPO), Shabir Ahmad Ganai was killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a television set, exploded near the main gate of the Special Operation Group (SOG) camp in Shopian area of Pulwama district on August 31 night.

He said that SOG had launched a hunt to nab the militants involved in planting the IED in the set.

Militants kidnapped one Assadullah from his house in Doda district on August 31 night and later shot him dead at Laldraman forest. His body was recovered on September 1 and handed over to his family, the spokesman said.

He said that security forces apprehended a militant along with a grenade and some ammunition from Karewa-Manloo in Shopian area of Pulwama district on August 31.
