Deputy commissioner of civic body held in MPSC scam

Mumbai: Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Thane civic body Vishwanath Kelkar was arrested on September 3 night and produced before special court in connection with the multi-crore answer paper scam that rocked Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

He was produced before special judge S P Kukday, who will decide on his remand after hearing Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the accused.

Kelkar was arrested by ACB sleuths who recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 11 lakh from him.

ACB has alleged that Kelkar had links with co-accused and acted as the middle man in the scam. He is the 12th accused to be arrested in this case.

Among other accused are former MPSC chairman S D Karnik and MPSC controller of examination S Sarode.
