Two injured as Maoists bomb council building
Wednesday, September 4 2002 16:49 Hrs (IST)

Kathmandu: Two people were injured on September 4 as suspected Maoist rebels exploded a bomb at the Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation building, police sources said.

Two staff members of KMC were injured in the blast, which shattered the window panes of the building, they said.

Police suspect that the rebels may be behind the incident though no one has claimed the attack.

There has been a series of explosions in and around Kathmandu virtually every day since last week when a state of Emergency was lifted after a period of 10 months.

Maoist rebels early in the week blew up a former minister's residence and a major power house in Nepal.
