New Delhi: Delhi police on September 5 arrested Haryana inspector general of police
Harish Kumar on charges of violation of Conservation of Foreign Exchange and
Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act (COFEPOSA).
The senior Haryana cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, who had been evading
arrest for over a year in a Customs evasion case, was arrested by the South West
District police at around 15:30 hours (IST), police sources said.
A case against him had been filed on August 7, 2001 and his detention under COFEPOSA
was ordered in June 14, 2002, they said.
