Jammu: Foreseeing an end to terror in the civilised society the world over, Jammu
and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has counselled Pakistan to shun cross-
border terrorism and strive for peace in the region.
"Pakistan would never succeed in its machinations against the people of Jammu and
Kashmir, the day has come when the world will rise against terror like a rock,"
Abdullah said paying tributes to late Subedar Surinder Singh of the 36th Regiment
at Jad village about 40 km from here, on September 4.
"Pak has tasted Indian might in the four wars including Kargil incursion and is
destined to face the same fate," he said while exuding confidence that the nation
would defeat the proxy war unleashed by the enemy soon.
He admired the valour of armed forces in safeguarding the integrity and sovereignty
of the nation and said the Indians would always remain indebted to them.
The families of the brave martyrs should never feel alone as the people share their
loss and take pride in the martyrdom of gallant jawans and officers, Abdullah
said.
Singh laid his life while fighting militants at Keri sector of border district of
Poonch on March 4 this year. He was posthumously awarded Vir Chakra for gallantry on
the Independence day this year.
