Louisville: US President George W Bush, honing in on Iraq, said on September 5 he
would warn his French, Russian and Chinese counterparts that the world's "worst
leaders" should not have access to the "worst weapons".
White House spokesman Ari Fleischer had said earlier that Bush would discuss Iraq by
telephone on September 6 with France's Jacques Chirac, Russia's Vladimir Putin and
China's Jiang Zemin.
Bush is to meet personally with close ally British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the
US presidential retreat outside Washington, Camp David, on September 7
afternoon.
"I will remind them that history has called us in action, that we love freedom, that
we will be deliberate, patient, strong in the values that we adhere to," Bush said
in a speech.
On Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Bush said, "I take the fact that he develops
weapons of mass destruction very seriously.
"I remember the fact that he has invaded two countries before. I know for a fact
that he's poisoned his own people. He doesn't believe in the worth of each
individual. He doesn't believe in public dissent."
"We can't let the world's worst leaders blackmail, threaten and hold freedom-loving
nations hostage with the world's worst weapons," said Bush.
