Jaya discusses Cauvery issue with senior officials
Saturday, September 7 2002 21:25 Hrs (IST)

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on September 7 held discussions with senior officials on the Cauvery issue in the wake of Cauvery River Authority (CRA) meeting convened by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee on September 8 to evolve a consensus.

Though there was no official word, sources said the Chief Minister also discussed the deadlock on the issue of distress sharing formula between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu at the monitoring committee meeting held in Delhi on September 7.

The sources said they were not sure whether the Chief Minister would attend September 8 CRA meeting in Delhi.

At the airport end, no bookings have so far been made for the Chief Minister to undertake the journey.

Sources said state Finance Minister C Ponnaiyan, who is now in Delhi, may be asked by the Chief Minister to attend the CRA meeting on her behalf.
