New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on September 6 met party chief Sonia
Gandhi and is understood to have apprised her about the developments following
Supreme Court order on releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Krishna, who has been camping to press for an emergency meeting of the Cauvery River
Authority (CRA) before Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee leaves for the US next
week, also apprised Gandhi about his government's decision to release water for
Tamil Nadu as has been directed by the Court, sources said.
Karnataka has been releasing water to Tamil Nadu since September 5 after ordered by
the Supreme Court to make available 1.25 tmct of water each day.
Krishna is anxious that the CRA could work out a distress sharing formula so that it
will not be bound by the court order. The Supreme Court made it clear on September 3
that its order will be in force till the CRA works out a formula.
